NASA discovers evidences of life on Saturn's moon, Titan
After analyzing data from NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, NASA scientists suggest a primitive or exotic form of life on Titan – Saturn’s moon. Titan is the largest moon of Saturn and the only one with a dense atmosphere. Titan is roughly Earth-like with mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes and would have been considered as a planet if it has not been orbiting Saturn.
Scientists believe that the moon is too cold to expect water in liquid form. However there are papers that show there is flow of hydrogen gas in the surface atmosphere of Titan. This suggests that aliens could also breathe. Another paper published online from Journal of Geophysical Research suggests that there are hydrocarbons on the Titan surface and also lack of acetylene.
Both the above findings indicate that the two important conditions necessary for methane based life in Titan. Scientists still admit that a lot of work must still be done before anyone can pronounce whether or not Titan has life.
Professor John Zarnecki, of the Open University, stated “We believe the chemistry is there for life to form. It just needs heat and warmth to kick-start the process. In four billion years’ time, when the Sun swells into a red giant, it could be paradise on Titan”.
