ESM Goh: Do skilled immigrants create jobs or take away jobs from locals?

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong hopes that economists could research in depth on “whether skilled immigrants create jobs or take away jobs from locals?”

Commenting on his FaceBook page, ESM Goh said that he has just read an article in AWSJ on the debate in the US about the issue and a certain Professor Slaughter had written that “skilled immigrants had long supported US jobs and living standards… they bring human capital, financial capital and connections to opportunities abroad”.

ESM Goh also noted that Professor Slaughter “has cited studies to backup his points.”

Acknowledging that it is a hot button issue in Singapore, ESM Goh said that it would be good if economists could research deeper into this subject so as to help advance the debate on this politicall sensitive issue and help government in its policy formulation and implementation.

Surprisingly, although ESM Goh has been a strong proponents of Singapore’s pro-foreigner and ultra-liberal immigration policies, his latest comment seems to suggest that he himself is unsure if “skilled” immigrants help create jobs or take them away from native Singaporeans.

It all depends on how you look at it!

Banglas - They take away all the jobs in the lower rung but they create more jobs in the middle rung namely you need only one local to drill a hole but you need at least 4 banglas to drill the same hole, one to hold the drill, one to push the drill as it drills in, one to hold the drill bit as the drill is turning the bit in and one to compose himself to look for the supervisor when the idiot that was holding the drillbit got his hand drilled off! Thus they create at least two positions, one supervisor & one assistant to the safety officer or safety officer!

Flippers - They take away all the jobs in the F&B, initially they will take away all the jobs from locals in the F&B for waiter & waitress but because of bad service provided thereafter, more captains & asst managers positions will be created to watch over them to ensure that the restaurants do not go bankrupt due to them!

Dogs - Simply put for any positions, another local will be employ to watch over it & ensure that it do not steal anything! All China dogs are prostitutes & thiefs anyways!

Shit skin - Enough said, for every one employed at any positions, you need at least two locals to monitor their performance & check through their education background but turnover rate for the local will be extremely high due to the shit skin's smell & attitude of which both stinks! They are just pure & simple smelly stinking cheats!
