Engineer compounds molest case by paying $5,000 to victim

While his pregnant wife was about due to give birth, an engineer molested a woman in a shopping centre last year. On Wednesday, Mr Tay Hoe Leong, 32, was allowed to compound the matter by paying $5,000 and issuing an apology to the victim.

A district court then granted him a discharge amounting to an acquittal.

He was alleged to have outraged the modesty of the slim, long-haired woman in Jurong Point Shopping Centre by touching one of her breasts at about 1.15pm on May 3, 2011.

The 28-year-old housewife cannot be identified as this is a molestation case.
