Do you drive into Malaysia regularly? Have you noticed any changes to the enforcement of the 3/4 tank rule? Do customs officers always check your petrol gauge? When was the last time they did that?

This rule still applies. They only do spot check occasionally but if you are found flouting the law, you will be prosecuted.

This ruling also is one stupid piece of ridiculous shit rule from the current government.

Why must we have 3/4 tank before we leave the country? Aren't we a democratic republic country? This ruling looks more like a communist rule than anything else!

If the government is afraid that Singaporeans going to Malaysia to pump their cars, then why don't the government make Singapore petrol to be more competitive by lowering the oil tax???

Since the government always tout Singaporeans to be more competitive in salaries by lowering our pay, why not the government lower their oil tax and make Singapore petrol station more competitive than that of JB?

This rule make Singapore government a fucking hypocrite and behave like a communist state.

If there should be any rule for 3/4 tank, it should be the Malaysia (entry) side and not on Singapore (exit) side. This ruling is like the TV licence fee rule, ridiculous and should be scrapped.

It is not the custom officer who check your gauge. It's the stoopiak bugger LTA who set up a small kopi table there... they do it randomly. mostly when no peak time. ;)

So what? If anything, it should be the Malaysia side to make the call for 3/4 tank and not Singapore side.

Nah, they don't have to. Considering the high cost of fuel in Singapore, most cars that comes out of Malaysia would be full. A rule like this is to protect the fuel petrol station in Singapore.

I heard now they use X-ray to check.........not to scare anyone but that's what i heard. I dun go to pump petrol, sulphur content too high in JB

I know the law still applies. I'd just like to find out when your petrol gauge was last checked by the officer.

I'm talking about 3/4 tank entry to Malaysia by Malaysia side.

Last week Tuesday I think. In the late afternoon around 3pm or so. If I am not wrong, they don't have fixed timing. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. Unlike previously, they were always there.

Agree more like communist. Impost fuel tank rule before exit country is the only country in the world. No need to fight for World Record.

If Malaysia side want to impost let them check why Singapore need to wast manpower and counter to check.

Ah my mistake. Din they have something similar about not filling more then a certain amount for foreign cars?

Yes, and that is legitimate. Malaysia has every right to protect their tax payers money from going to foreigners. This is because their petrol is subsidized.

But on Singapore side, Singapore government wants to protect their tax COLLECTION by not allowing Singaporeans spending their money on petrol OUTSIDE of Singapore. Do you see the difference?

One is protecting their tax payers' money from GOING to foreigners, the other is protecting their tax COLLECTION from it's own citizens.

Indeed, same case of them banning electronic cigarette so that they can continue collecting taxes on tobacco.

Because Malaysia subsidies petrol cos they produce oil!!!
