A short video clipped produced by French international news agency Agence-France Presse or AFP on youtube had its embedding properties disabled “by request”. (Watch the video here)
This will prevent netizens from viewing the clip directly on other sites which have embedded it, thereby reducing its audience. They will have to view the clip directly on youtube instead.
AFP allows embedding of its videos on secondary sites most of the time. It is not known who has “requested” AFP to disable the embedding of the video. However, it can be inferred that only an influential and powerful authority with significant leverage over a major, respected and reputable news agency like AFP will be able to pull off such a feat.
The video depicts the sad story of Zheng Jie Wo, who was reduced to a life of destitute in the streets for seven years after being bankrupted by her late husband’s hefty medical expenses.
