SP Services announced that there will be a revision on the electricity tariffs charges from 1 April 2013 to 30 June 2013. The increased tariffs will include investment in infrastructure to meet increasing electricity demand and replace aging assets:
http://www.singaporepower.com.sg/ir.../Year 2012/Q2_13 Tariff Press Release_Web.pdf
Consumer are already paying for the consumption of electricity and service provider are profiting from the consumption, do not forget that electricity is a basic necessity like public transportation, food, etc.
Questions to SP Services, why should consumer pay for the investment make by services provider? So do consumer get investment return when investment yield profit? Shouldn’t service provider invest with their reserve and profit yielded from previous financial years rather than push the cost of investment to the consumer? It’s a lame excuse for consumer to shoulder part of investment in infrastructure of service provider.
Authority governing the energy market should seriously take a closer look at the practice by energy services provider.

hi
ok granted,’extras’ to cover ‘INFRA-STRUCTURAL’ costs.
so,WHAT are ‘NEW CITIZENS’ and the FTs/PRs going to be ‘CHARGED’ for the ‘INFRA-STRUCTURAL COSTS’ THAT GENERATIONS OF SINGAPOREANS have been ‘FOOTING’ all these years for the ‘CONVENIENCE’ AND ‘COMFORT’ these ‘NEWCOMERS’ are ENJOYING?
WHY,despite the much argued ‘ROAD CONGESTION ‘ here,THE FTs/PERMANENT PRs,NEW CITIZENS are bidding for the LIMITED ‘EDITION’ COEs vis-a-vis COMMON SINGAPOREAN ‘FAMILIES’ just like those RICH SINKies are competing for their ‘EXTRA’ CARS against FIRST-TIME SINKIE-BUYERS?
WHY ARE ADAMANT PERMANENT PRs/FTs allowed to BUY HDBs for RENTAL INCOME AND OTHER PROFITEERING purposes when COUNTLESS OF OLD-TIME SINKie-SINGLES have been most UNFAIRLY BARRED from doing so since the prices of HDBs were more affordable to seeing stars with the current exuberance?
WHY ARE FT-KIDS granted FREE EDUCATION WITH POCKET-MONEY TO GO ALONG WHEN SO MANY OF OUR OWN CAPABLE SINKI-KIDS HAVE GOT TO WORRY ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO PURSUE A TERTIARY EDUCATION BECAUSE THEY ARE FROM POOR FAMILIES UNLESS THEY ARE WILLING TO BORROW from LICENCESD ‘LOANSHARKS’ like DBS OR UOB???
COMMON CITIZENS have been MOST DISADVANTAGED SINCE ABOUT 10-25 YEARS AGO UNDER THE LEEdership of LOONG’s LOST DECADE.

Public utilities (and transport) should not have been privatised. This has been a gargantuan mistake made by PAP. It was based on the erroneous belief that they can operate “efficiently” if they were privatised. The same result could have been obtained by having the appropriate KPIs even if they are Government held.
The Civil Service did the privatisation study for utulities and public transport. Unfortunately, they are a spineless, if not brainless, bunch who avoid taking risk at all cost. They just made sure the “study” confirmed what the politician were thinking. An over-paid useless bunch of ass-kissers.
The amount of dividends paid out and the cost of regulating the privatised companies would likely have paid for most, if not all, the capital expenditure required. These expenditure can also be paid for by having the utilities issue bonds which can be sold to retail investors. It could also help develop the debt market in Singapore.
The $1.1b bailout of public bus operators and $900m for MRT proves that privatisation of public transport was a big mistake.
Failed privatisation proves again PAP’s greed, stupidity and incompetence.
Regime change is the solution. Throw out the corrupt, incompetent and pro-alien PAP.
