The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) today published the Democracy Index and put Singapore 74th out of 167 countries, and labelled the Singapore government a flawed democracy. Singapore performed poorly in terms of electoral process and pluralism, with a score of only 4.3. You may view the original report here.

Here are the raw score results for Singapore,

Electoral process and Pluralism: 4.3
Functioning of government: 7.5
Political participation: 5.6
Political culture: 6.3
Civil liberties: 7.1
Overall score: 6.1, ranking 74th/167

Compared to neighbouring countries, Malaysia is ahead at 68th, Indonesia at 49th and Philippines 54th. Compared to countries with similar culture, Taiwan is at 31st, Japan at 23rd, South Korea at 22nd and Hongkong is at 67th. The only country doing worse than Singapore is China at 136th.

In the recent 2015 General Election, the PAP government won the election by 69.7% due to undemocratic electoral processes like GRC system, cooling off day and even a new regulation of “pre-result announcement” which the authorities claimed to “help dispel rumors before the announcement of actual results”.

Unlike other countries’ independent electoral commission, Singapore’s Election Department reports directly to the Prime Minister. The current Prime Minister is the son of Singapore’s former dictator Lee Kuan Yew, while his wife is the CEO of the country’s sovereign wealth fund company Temasek Holdings. Lee Hsien Loong also holds the Chairman position of another sovereign wealth fund company GIC, in tandem to his Prime Minister position.

If the PAP got balls, why don't they sue the Economist Intelligence Unit? If they don't sue for libel, then it must be true. After all, they sue anyone else in singapore if they were to say such things. Obviously, the EIU report hints at massive corruption saying that the PeeM's wife is CEO of Temasek and he is Chairman of the GIC, and even worse, calling Old Fart a dictator?

........... The only country doing worse than Singapore is China at 136th.

....................

Nobody including the Unsinkified who has upgraded needs to be concerned about a Little Red Dot ........ however they should be concerned about China, soon to be the largest economy in the world .......... Sinkieland stands zero chance to even be the largest economy in Southeast Asia .......... so 70% Sinkies can drag down the other 30% and all Sinkies can get screwed by PAP for all I care ........ I hope this happens, this is karma, for without these stupid and ball-less fucks there will be no PAP .......

But we are richer than many other nations ranked above us. So what does that tell you?

And yet everyday, lots of jiuhukias, indons, pinoys, are sucking Singapore's dick hoping for a work pass or PR to live and work in Singapore.
