EDMWer calls fellow EDMWer an idiot for saying a weaker USD benefits USA, it actually harms USA. Which EDMWer is right?

Lololol

I don't think you understand what happens when the USD decline.

A weaker USD mostly benefits US.

A weaker USD hurt other countries.

A weaker US makes US export cheaper. It makes foreign exports around the world more expensive.

A weaker USD will help US corporations profits.

A weaker USD kills export countries.

A strong Singapore dollar will destroy Singapore tourism. Instead of visiting Singapore they go to the USA because it is cheaper.

A strong Singapore dollar will make it more expensive to do business inside Singapore. Singapore transactions fees will be prohibited because of a strong Singapore dollar.

The main reason why the USD is strong in the past couple of years is feds interest rate hike.

The USD been declining is due to US inflation data. Traders is betting on the feds to cut interest rate.

A weaker USD is coming at the worst time for foreign countries like China. Not only do they have to deal with US tariffs, they now have to fight a weaker dollar.

lol lol lol :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Only a fool like DJT will think that's true. USA is a net importer economy due to the strength of their consumer which has been propping up their economy. A weak dollar hurts USA more that it benefits them — when the consumer gets hurt their economy goes to sheet. To make things worse, nobody wants to buy anything that's made in USA now because of what Trump did.

A weaker USD hurt other countries.
As above, nobody's buying anything that's made in USA. A weaker USD will only hurt American consumerism. Without the consumer, USA is heading to a hard recession.

A weaker US makes US export cheaper. It makes foreign exports around the world more expensive.

Export countries like China are diversifying. Trade with USA has come to a complete halt since the tariff embargo. Kill is overstating it. China is still alive as of today.

A strong Singapore dollar will destroy Singapore tourism. Instead of visiting Singapore they go to the USA because it is cheaper.
The whole world is boycotting the US now. I don't know where you read your fake news but tourism in the US is on a decline.

A strong Singapore dollar will make it more expensive to do business inside Singapore. Singapore transactions fees will be prohibited because of a strong Singapore dollar.
The Sing Dollar relative to other currencies isn't expensive. It's the US dollar that's being crushed.

The main reason why the USD is strong in the past couple of years is feds interest rate hike.
Yes, and the reverse is coming when the FED does QE to save their economy from recession.

The USD been declining is due to US inflation data. Traders is betting on the feds to cut interest rate.
Interest rates cut means more US dollar decline. USD GG.com.

A weaker USD is coming at the worst time for foreign countries like China. Not only do they have to deal with US tariffs, they now have to fight a weaker dollar.
Tariff has effectively put a trade embargo on China. Strong or weak USD is not gonna make a difference.

They are presenting both sides of the picture and should do a talk show together.

a strong sgd attracts foreign direct investments in the form of capital and cash transfers (legalized money laundering) as parking cash in sg retains (and builds) equity and helps increase cash flow of those investments by interest earnings and currency exchange appreciation. with billions cumming into sg on a daily basis, mas will not devalue the sgd as doing so will cause (foreign) capital and cash flight. a strong sgd also helps to moderate cost of imports. same principles apply to the usd except that the trump admin focuses on sexports and the revitalization of manufacturing in usa to facilitate more sexports. one of the biggest sexport commodities will be fuel as domestic production of oil and gas will ramp up significantly. other sexports except for high technology and aircraft pale in comparison.

A weaker dollar makes imported goods more expensive. Since the US economy is heavily dependent on imports, this leads to higher prices for American consumers on everyday items like electronics, clothing and commodities like oil and gold which are often priced in US dollars. This fuels inflation and reduces the purchasing power of Americans.

US companies that rely on imported raw materials or components face higher input costs, which will squeeze their profit margins.

A weaker US dollar contributes to inflation and makes it harder for the Federal Reserve to achieve its inflation targets, leading to them keeping interest rates higher for longer.

There are always 2 sides of a coin.
While some benefitted from it, some will suffer.

Same like gdp growth, who benefit from it? Who suffers?
