Eat and run? You'll see your picture on the wall.
Restaurant owner publicly shames patrons who leave without paying.

Singapore, 24 May 2010- ONE popular seafood restaurant has taken to posting pictures of freeloaders outside toilet in order to shame those who leave without paying.

Melben Seafood, which is famous for their butter crabs, is located at Blk 232 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 #01-1222.

According to a report by Shin Min Daily the restaurant owner prints stills from his security camera of patrons who leave without paying.

Two pictures of past patrons, a thirty-something couple leaving the restaurant, were observed to be stuck outside the toilet wall.

The picture had the wordings "EAT & RUN" in red in both English and Mandarin, along with an arrow indicating the 'guilty' party.

With over 20 tables outside the restaurant the owner is sometimes unable to track customers who leave without paying.

If one wanted to freeload and scot off without paying the bill, it is relatively easy to do so.

Restaurant owner Mr Soon Wen Bing revealed that the couple who left without paying patronised his restuarant a couple of months ago.

The couple ordered one crab and a couple of side dishes and their bill came up to 30 dollars.

However, judging from the closed circuit cameras, they had the intention of leaving without paying.

Hence the owner decided to publicly shame them.

According to Mr Soon, the restuarant has always had the problem of non-paying customers.

However, the problem is not severe.

He has no time to track down each customer and force them to pay up and thus putting up their pictures is the easiest solution.
