quite a joke when me heard that the Earth Hour organisers are moving their HQ to Singapore. remembered an article me was reading yonks ago regarding the carbon footprint each country is leaving behind, the amount of energy we consume totally put us on the new map rather visibly.

how conscious are we when we use electricity? for a start, as an individual, me make sure electricity isn't wasted at me home, me workplace. for that effort, me is glad that me household electricity consumption is a third of the national average electricity consumption, which is good because me fork out less each month :D:D:D

turning off the lights for an hour a year? for goodness sake, just save electricity by turning electrical appliances off when not in use, use energy efficient bulbs, use fan instead of air conditioner once in a while. would me be turning off the lights on Saturday? hell yeah! can save more money, can save the Earth! why not? :p:p:p

Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming is bullshit.

CO2 is not a pollutant and does not affect climate change.

Riding the bicycle, reusing shopping bags or turning off lights for one hour to 'raise awareness' will do fuck all.

Al Gore is selling snake oil to you in the form of carbon credits, so you can give away your money to cover your eco-guilt.

Any individual, company or organization that buys into this bullshit is an idiot.

It is good practice to not waste electricity. Save money, and is a responsible habit. But I question the usefulness of the individual doing this; apart from appeasing our sense of "greenness" I doubt if it does anything in a substantial way to lessen the entropic effect in the larger picture. You guys can turn off as much lights as you wish to, just one night of F1 night race will wipe out all your efforts.

Cheers!

reduce co2? ...

breathe less on earth day! ...

kooning can slow down breathing rate, reduce the amount of oxygen required, also reducing the amount of carbon dioxide produced. everyone should be kooning more! yeah! :p:p:p

I support EU and USA on their fight against anthropogenic activities. I appeal to a PPP initiative in that part of the world
to ship all their oil and gas to Singapore. We make the sacrifice and burn it for them. As for high grade steel production, Singapore
will sacrifice and make for you!

heheh...

who joined the fun and kept all lights out last night? :):):)

I feel that the only forward for alternative energy is for a country with substantial economic strength to have the willpower to divorce themselves from fossil fuels.

So long as the source of this energy is controlled in the hands of the few, a dip in supply or demand will translate in higher oil prices regardless.

In the Singapore context, while solar and wind will require too much space and nuclear energy is a threat to all, the alternatives to fossil fuel would only be feasible the day the PAP can price it for a tidy profit for themselves.

Yep. Evidently, there are still people who believe in Al Gore's bullshit.

Even in this very forum.

Quite impossible. Ninpei realize that energy consumption is proportional to wealth. Poor man walks, rich man drives car, very rich man drives Lambo. Poor man goes fishing with line and bamboo rod, rich man fishes with fibreglass rod and reel, very rich man takes his cruiser sportfisherman out, blows 2k on fuel to catch a bucket of fish.

Cheers!

Was it supposed to be last nite? :o
No wonder, I went to MacDonald's and noticed that the menu at the counter was very dimly lighted.
Couldn't see clearly, so went to Burger King instead................ :D

did u feel dim last nite? ...

ah... bro, me ain't that bright to begin with :p:p:p

always depended on the collective wisdom of the bros of SBF to nourish me intellectually :):):)

bio-fuel was quite a fad almost a decade back. using micro-organisms to produce enough fuel to drive our world.
alcohol has been produced for thousands of years and yet engineers can't produce a decent & safe engine that runs on alcohol and/or its derivatives? then the talks of palm oil sparked interests some 6~8 years back, some seeds from some plants were considered and even cousins of marijuana is used to produce bio-fuel. last recalled that diesel can be produced by GM micro-organisms... so where are we heading?

bro,
me doesn't believe in Al Gore either, me only believed in saving some shilling for a rainy day. that's all :p:p:p
