<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--> ABOUT $207,000 worth of drugs were seized and suspected traffickers and abusers were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday. Officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau's Intelligence and Supervision divisions conducted an operation against a alleged drug trafficker, after receiving a tip-off that the suspect had received a consignment of heroin from overseas. The officers travelled to the suspect's hideout in Block 133 Lorong Ah Soo and saw the suspect, aged 31 and unemployed, meet another man at the void deck of Block 129. Officers then arrested both men and found a packet of heroin on the other man.
The alleged trafficker's hideout was raided and hundreds of 'Erimin-5' tablets and packets of heroin were discovered in bedrooms, the air-conditioning vent, a vaccum cleaner and even in a cooker hood. Approximately 1.12kg of heroin and over 600 'Erimin-5' tablets were recovered. A 35-year-old unemployed female, and a suspected abuser were also arrested. The suspect and his associate will be investigated for trafficking controlled drugs and will face the death penalty if convicted. Investigations against the other man and the suspected abuser are on-going. CNB officers continued with their stakeout for the drug courier. At about 3am on Thursday, a man and his friend, driving a Malaysian-registered vehicle, were arrested. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 400 'Erimin-5' tablets hidden within the driver's door panel. The man, a 26-year-old Malaysian and his friend, a 20-year-old woman also Malaysian, will be investigated for importing controlled drugs.
