[h=1]DR AMY KHOR: MORE CHILDCARE LEAVE FOR PARENTS WILL HURT BUSINESSES[/h]

In a response to Jurong MP David Ong's Parliamentary question over whether the Ministry of Manpower will consider giving more statutory paid caregiver leave, the Minister of State for Manpower Dr Amy Khor believes that more leave entitlements would impact businesses.

Dr Amy Khor: "Businesses are still adjusting and adapting to some of these leave requirements. Let us monitor the impact of these changes before we consider legislating more family care leave."

Despite the rapidly falling birth rate and ageing population problem, the Ministry of Manpower prefers not to legislate leaves but they "encourage" employers to attain work-life balance by giving their employees leaves beyond the minimal legislated number.

Currently in Singapore, married employees with children below the age of 7 are entitled to a minimum of 6 days of paid Childcare Leave and 7 days of Annual Leave. This pales in comparison to Australia where paid parental leave is set at a minimum of 18 weeks and parents can continue to take unpaid Childcare Leave without the risk of employment dismissal.

Is 13 days of leave a year enough time for your children? Will your boss sacrifice his profits so employees will have more time with their family and less time with work?

Not enough... The best we can have 365 days leave per year...

Yup amy khor is right.. tat is y I dont hire people with kids or chicks who wants kids...alot of problems..

I see. PAP has always been very kind to us, subsidies here grants there. Now they want businesses to emulate their benevolence without legally forcing their hands. Very thoughtful of them.

Fcuk PAP with the fake Pioneer card, you go Poly clinic the medicine has got no subsidy!!
They deduct payment thru your medisave, and you pay little! who are they trying to deceive???

They claimed that after January 2015 medicine will be subsidised don't be fooled their ploy!
Polyclinic only subsidised the inflated consultation fee, increased from $10.00 to $100.00 than they say subsidise
70% you still pay hell of a lot!! I rather they don't subsidised we pay normal fee its cheaper!!

The reason that Polyclinics say there is a subsidy is sad commentary on singapore. They mention the subsidy because the 2 million FTs here also have to see the doctor and receive health care. These other non sinkies do not get the subsidy as far as I know. Perhaps 30-40% of their patients are non sinkies. The bill is to help their staff differentiate and figure out what to charge. Just guessing.

Heehee.. the PAP is really one kind. They "help" the poor by raising gst. They "help" with medical costs by charging everyone more, then give you subsidies end up you pay more, your foreigner neighbour pay even more. Who benefits? Haiya, I suppose sinkies are satisfied just to see other people worse off than themselves, hehee.

It's always about the business eh pappies?

Singapore is already super stingy in the number of public holidays compared to other countries, those poor businesses will all close down if those with kids get more parental leave.

:kma:

Careful now. If businesses are unhappy, they may relocate to another country! Do you want your wives and daughters to be maids and prostitutes in another country? Better that they be sweatshop labourers here.

Less childcare leave will hurt the child.

They may grow up to be terrorists and blow up your children!!!

This 六指琴魔 is a clear example of the insincerity of the Papzi regime. Is this how you behave when you want a higher birth rate? What they want is enough votes from Singapore born voters to tide them over till they can replace us.
