莊瑞雄說，這次的總統暨立法委員選舉，民進黨在國會席次上有實質成長，所以總統選舉的敗選責任，「我們不忍、更不該讓蔡英文一個人自己一肩扛下」，他誠摯呼籲所有與蔡英文一同走過、一起奮鬥過的同志，應該站出來強烈慰留蔡英文。

民進黨將在明天上午10時召開臨時中常會，討論蔡英文的辭職案及檢討敗選原因，如果通過蔡英文辭職案，就要由中常委互相推舉代理主席看守民進黨，直到5月新任黨主席選舉後產生，由於蔡英文已連任1次，依民進黨黨規，今年不得再參選。1010115

蔡英文在短短四年內帶領民進黨走出廢墟，即使未能走進總統府，整體而言還是功大於過；只是辭去黨主席後，她將頓失政治舞台，恐將進入沉潛期。另一方面，黨內天王身負輔選重任，又名列不分區壓軍，成績卻不如預期，亦須負連帶責任；但黨中央不能真空，蓄勢待發的眾天王，可能將趁黨主席的空缺再起。

按照民進黨過去為敗選負責的傳統，蔡英文昨晚就辭黨主席。接下來的後續發展，包括中常會是否慰留蔡英文、蔡是否接受慰留、蔡若堅辭後的代理人選、下任黨主席之爭等問題，都為民進黨下一階段的領導中心投下變數。

蔡英文的黨主席任期到今年六月任滿，昨晚她表明辭意，但考量支持者的情緒，黨內可能以敗選檢討之名慰留蔡英文繼續領導黨務體系。不過，即使她接受慰留，六月任滿後，也受限於任滿兩屆的規定不得再連任，勢必將交出黨主席的位子。

民進黨「後蔡英文」的領導人，高雄市長陳菊輩分高、台南市長賴清德屬新世代，且因掌握直轄市行政資源，是可能人選；但兩人皆屬新潮流系，而新系大老吳乃仁這次掌輔選兵符吞敗，若再由新系主持黨務，黨內其他派系勢將反彈，恐將點燃派系之爭再起的火種。

至於黨內四大天王，特別是與蔡英文曾在初選時爭總統提名的蘇貞昌，以及在基層黨員頗具實力的謝長廷，未來動向將備受關注。然而，蘇謝兩派壁壘分明，恐難互相合作，任何一人恐怕都很難團結民進黨；且選舉成績未盡理想，身為輔選巨頭的天王若想再起，必須提出一套可以在黨內服眾的論調。

四年前民進黨慘敗，還一度被預測廿年無法執政，但從三年前立委補選連勝、縣市長選舉開紅盤、前年五都總票數大贏四十萬票，到這次大選比上屆的總統票成長了六十餘萬票，國會席次也有開疆闢土之勢，民進黨的支持者不會忘記蔡英文的功勞。

昨晚蔡英文宣布辭職時，台下陣陣「不要走、留下來」的深切吶喊聲，表達了基層支持者最直接的心聲，全黨上下都聽在耳裡。但民進黨現在最大的難題，恐怕是在少了蔡英文這位「非典型」的主席後，不知道還有誰可以團結民進黨？
