一名網友日前在Mobile 01論壇發表「高雄是一座死城」文章，直言高雄景氣低落、平均薪資低、工作機會少，物價比起台北卻便宜不到哪去，房價地價也只有便宜一點點，覺得綜觀台灣本島，「錢往台北流、污染留高雄」，中央政府虧欠高雄最多。
網友的發文中提及，目前高雄基層勞工的薪水25k以下的佔了七八成，就算是同家公司的同個職位，高雄和北中的薪水也差了15k，休息日還少了一天。因為平均薪資低缺乏消費力，連帶餐飲相關行業關店。相較之下物價卻跟台北差不多，一個便當要七八十塊，蛋黃區的房價大概每坪70-80萬。有人以蔡英文總統說的「你數學不好」反諷，表達政府和民間的感受不同。隨後版主也補充自己在高雄出生，只有年輕時在台北待過幾年「高雄(的經濟)是歷史以來最差的，不知道當政者的數字那來的」。希望執政者不要有「台北好就全國好」的心態，誰要來「救救高雄的經濟」。
