Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean visited Shell's oil refinery on Pulau Bukom on Friday morning, the site where a fire raged for more than 30 hours before it was put out on Thursday night.

Mr Teo, who is also Minister for Home Affairs, is accompanied by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers.

SCDF officers are still standing by on Pulau Bukom while Shell confirms that there are no more leaks.

In a statement sent out by Shell at 11.45pm on Thursday, the company said that the fire 'has been extinguished' but that there were still 'traces of fuel vapour'.

The oil giant said its in-house global fire expert will arrive in Singapore from Friday to provide assistance.

Fuck you, the fire was put out last night. This is as good as saying that the chef risked burning his hand cleaning the stove he switched off last night this morning.

Ah Ron, our brave DPM should have donned the SCDF uniform, helmet, carried the hose and fought the blaze together with the firefighters when the fire was at its peak few days ago... No tears will be shed if he lost his life in the inferno....
