Downtown East business down by 50%
By Amanda Wong
Business at Downtown East has taken a hit, almost two months after the fatal slashing of 19-year-old Republic Polytechnic student Darren Ng on October 30.
Since the incident, security has been beefed up in the area, with regular patrols by the police.
But, despite increased security, many shop owners RazorTV spoke to said crowd numbers have gone down, resulting in a 50 per cent drop in sales.
They were also disappointed that the Downtown East management is not planning to hold a New Year's Eve countdown party this year.
