honestly speaking, for many of us city dwellers, may find it very humbling to lead a spartan life in the rural regions. many with whom i've spoken too, still have preference not to put up in places too remote from the towns/ cities. biz small or big is subject to individual's financial capacities.out of the 76, many amphurs have only baarn norks. so depends on individual on whether they want a village style of life or still be able to set up some small (really small) business enough to feed own family. If stay in the city and work, I feel the standard of living is not really that cheap either.
Can 20000baht survive every month? Can of course, but don't get to save much.
there've been some fortunate enough, to find trust worthy partners to run slightly bigger establishments, dealing with international clientele, or become major wholesaler/distributor to the respective regions... etc. at the end of the day, alot depends on how 1 balances his/her opportunities.
residing in rural regions tend to incur lesser for overhead costs, likewise, the income is also lesser. cant expect to have the best of both worlds in most cases. will enough ever be enough, thb 30k? 50k? 70k? 100k?... 1 needs to lay down his objectives, short, mid n long term goals, projected retirement age, projected financial liabilities upon/after retirement etc.
