I also don't mean those eurasians or north indians but japanese or korean or viet type of sinkees or even african ones.

As you know sg attracted lots of ppl not just from china but also from japan and beyond etc. Like there used to be jap pros in bugis area before WW2. Hence many of these ppl aren't new immigrants but probably arrived at the same time as most sinkees ancestors. Just curious do any of you know of any such ppl?

My ns time we had someone that had japanese name.

japanese pekinese, chinese, dirtiness, Look at these......alll the same just diff name.....

Know of a sinkie Jew but at school we call him jup jing because his mom is an ah neh not pure jew.

Actually some I knew some with angmo fathers and Chinese mums but followed the father's race in their ic.
There was an English and a Scot.
I knew a few Portuguese as well, those with common eurasian surnames like De Souza etc

In sg you follow the race of your father. So if a eurasian has a chinese father he's regarded as chinese in his ic. In fact i also read in some forum maybe this forum or 3 in 1 that the eurasian community doesn't consider someone with an asian father as eurasian cos he needs an ang moh father? I think that's quite stupid and ridiculous.

But I remembered seeing some Eurasian friends who had eurasian under the ic's race column.
I know some Malay friends have race as Javanese and Boyanese indicated in ic.

sgp is like rojak. there are the main ingredients and there are the minor ingredients. mix everything up and we get a very solid rojak.

the trouble now is pap is trying to tilt the balance and bring in more minor ingredients - especially the prcs and indians. and what do we get? no more distinctive sgp flavored rojak but like CHINA but not very china or like india and not very india flavor. it only gives sgporeans a very upset after-taste and many are seriously unhappy about the situation :(

I'm not really sure about that. Perhaps those are old school eurasians that had already established a distinct identity of the eurasians long residing in sg but new eurasians that is perhaps an ang moh father that just gained citizenship and married a local asian woman here would have his child following his race instead of eurasian.

Without googling or wiking on him did he live in singapore most of his life?

Did he fit into local culture or just wanted to act white?

I don't know him personally, but I think he had fitted in well enough to be elected Chief Minister. His constituency was also Anson, almost all Chinese. Not to be over expecting, I think that he had done alright.
