I remember how Whatsapp was in 2014, before its acquisition by Facebook and the inevitable bloat introduced to the app.
Some years ago, Snapchat was super popular, so Whatsapp copycat Snapchat and introduced a similar feature.

And in recent times, Facebook/Meta added its own AI assistant to Whatsapp. You must give consent to use it, but I believe there are plenty of retards out there who constantly chat with it on Whatsapp as though it were a real person.
