Do you think capitalism is good?

in theory capitalism is good.
but human nature being what it is ,
practised capitalism to the extreme.
creating an unequal society
horrendous working conditions and no labor rights
great gap between the poor and wealthy
degrading morality

There is a cost ...and proponents of unbridled capitalism (the right-wingers) will never want to say anything about it. Capitalism encourages us to kill the next person so that we can eat their dinner. A society that is based on pure capitalism will eventually devolve into chaos with the masses lynching the small group of rich people. The rich people will have to spend to hire morons (aka police) to protect them from the masses.

Yes, the "Holy" Roman Empire, and its church has committed utmost cruelty to humans, but that is not Jesus's doing. Jesus showed compassion and respect for women, and places his "mother" at the pinnacle of adoration, as shown by the reverence the Catholic movement shows for the Virgin Mary. Whilst the crowd was eager and bent on stoning Mary Magdalene(?) - a woman of ill-repute, Jesus stood between the crowd and protected her saying "May the one among you who is free of sin, be the first to cast the stone." As time moved on, various chuches (formed in the name of Jesus) have interpreted and practiced rituals and beliefs to their political/personal gains and benefit. Let not these actions, sway you from what Jesus taught and displayed in his story.

I never said Jesus was responsible for these atrocities. I specifically mentioned 'Christians' and 'Christianity' as perpetrators of aforementioned atrocities. Always separate the founder from the religion, and the religion from the practitioners. Most times the teachings of the founder have been distorted and bastardized beyond recognition down the centuries by the clergy and political rulers.

Jesus preached compassion for the poor, equality for all. His teachings were never assimilated in feudal and medieval Europe, nor in his native birthplace in the Middle East.

By corollary, nor was Jesus responsible for Europe's rise. By the way the reformation started in the 16th century with Martin Luther's The Ninety-Five Theses, not the 11th/12th century.

Most experts would say the Age of Enlightenment, starting in the early 17th century, was the result of the rise of empiricism and scientific thinking originating with Copernicus, and the gradual growth of scientific academies and universities in Europe. While the Reformation pre-shadowed the Scientific Revolution, it was more a harbinger of the ongoing transition from religious superstition to empiricism than a trigger of the revolution itself.

Yes, I understand you perfectly. Just wanted to highlight the persona of Jesus from the Church's cruel and sinful activities which are definitely not what Jesus (if he existed) wishes to portray. Thanks!

Cheers!

I never said Jesus was responsible for these atrocities............

They have a right to their own view. However, it wasn't me who said that the story of Jesus was the Greatest Story ever told, that comment was made by National Geographic, Discovery Channel, or the History Channel. However, I do agree with whoever first claimed that statement, it certainly is. The next greatest story ever told, is the story of Lee Kuan Yew!!

Cheers!

The Buddhists won't agree. Likewise, the Hindus and the Muslims. The Catholics think more of Mary than JC.

capitalism is good if u know how to weild it and use it.when properly wielded, capitalism can make or break nations,it can bring empires to its knees.the ability to weild capitalism at its perfection grants u the nickname "superman" like li ka shing.capitalism lets u do superhuman things, beyond imagination, build rockets and go to mars, defying conventional wisdom, like elon musk and tony stark.

at the end of the day,the world revolves around capitalism and power, power in its purest form, nothing can exist without it,everything is meaningless without it

Capitalism is good for those few with the wherewithal to wield its power – connections, talent, old money, luck of birth, circumstance or place.

It is never good for society as a whole, or for the entire world, especially in its unfettered 'nature, red in tooth and claw' form. In the long run, it will consume the entire world – nature and the human species.

people with the stick of destiny in their hands perhaps?and i dont mean jokers like arse loong or PAP clowns.....i mean people like Carnegie, like Rothschild, like Jp.morgan, fredrick krupp,or henry ford, vanderbilt, johannes gutenburg,or richard branson or elon musk or tan kah kee or li ka shing or chuck feeney.this are the people who go out and create history and destiny,it is people like that that change the world.unlike the millions of billions of peasants out there who are merely contented to work a peasant job, have babies and live an ordinary peasant life,u dont need capitalism to exploit the peasants, these people will be exploited one way or another throughout history, because they are weak, dumb and weak willed.they are merely pawns in the tapestry of destiny.
