That is because it is LKY's favourite colour!

WHEN CYC The Custom Shop appealed to customers to bring in their vintage shirts for its own museum, Mrs Lee Kuan Yew came by with three of the Senior Minister's, all about 30 years old and in excellent condition. CYC managing director Fong Loo Fern said that one was a "retro-looking" shirt with blue polka dots that Mrs Lee described as a National Day Rally favourite.
Mrs Fong saw Mr Lee on TV recently in a white CYC shirt with Philippine-style embroidery on the front. About 15 years old, she estimated. "It shows that he treasures what he has and he's frugal," she said.
For more than 30 years, Mr Lee has bought shirts "about once a year, and at most two shirts each time". Mrs Lee picks the fabric (usually Oxford cotton) and colour (pink is his favourite).
Comfort and fit are more important to SM. So he asked for a larger-than-normal collar, and so did Mr Goh Chok Tong, the current Prime Minister, whom Mr Lee introduced to CYC, said Mrs Fong's mother, Madam Chan
Man Lee, 67. She is the daughter-in-law of CYC founder Chiang Yick Ching.
CYC's Raffles Hotel shop is also collecting shirts for refugees until Nov 25. Donors get a 20-per-cent discount on a new CYC shirt.
