Do we really need more foreigners on our soil?

You know, all the debate surrounding immigration and FTs I ask myself, do we really need foreigners in Singapore? Especially for foreigners who take up jobs of PMEs. This article was trying to explain to find for a balance. What you guys think?

We need more foreigners in Singapore - Five Stars And a Moon

With a bigger labour force, Singapore’s economy will be able to grow at a faster pace. However, Singapore is a small country with limited land and the growth in population size must keep pace. With increasing population density, there will be increasing urban economics problems such as traffic congestion – factors which reduce the utility of workers.

With higher educated and more pampered Singaporeans, we also start to see a gap in some industries which no locals are willing to fill up. Who is going to take up the jobs of the construction where working conditions are harsh and little work-life balance is promoted? We can see a declining trend in Singaporeans filling up the construction and service industry.

However we ought to do our best in recruiting Singaporeans to our best ability. We cannot continue to depend on foreigners in every industry that has declining labour supply.

We don't need anymore and we need to get rid of at least 2 million of them that are on our land. Foreigners should not be more than 2 percent of our population.

Smart FTsh do not want to be shitizens; they just want to be PRs who are granted privileges almost similar to or better than sinkies, like buying HDB flats, getting jobs, having fare concessions in public transport. Most importantly, PRs can clear out their CPF in one lump sum and fuck off from SG, no NS liability too.
