Do we really need bus interchange??

The question is, "Do we really need bus interchange??" and not "Do we need so many bus interchanges??"

That's right, he asked whether we needed bus interchanges at all.

The bus interchanges in SG allow the feeder buses to go to the more obscure places or to places not on the main roads.
Don't think the system would be more efficient without these, it would be either the buses having to ply smaller roads or people having to walk a long way. The bus interchange is certainly not the reason why costs have gone up.

Before, you only drank one bottle of milk, or drank whatever your mother had on her breasts. Now you are all grown up and still want to continue to survive on that bottle of milk? Our population has grown, our roads have become wider and expressways, our working population demand quicker, better and comfortable air-con public buses and subways.

You can't have all these at 1960s prices where there were smoky and rickety Hock Lee buses, Tay Koh Yat buses, STC buses and of course the pirate taxis. You can't go and eat in a foodcourt now and demand sarabat stall prices.

This is the reality. Transport industry is heavily dependent on oil - and that has taken a huge chunk of the company's operating cost. Newer and better buses cost lots of money. Bus drivers need a reasonable salary to survive and work well.

Your dream will come true when one of the Tans is elected President, or when the WP become the government. They will dig into the National Reserve goldmine and give you free transport.

You see it's not really the fault of operating costs. Yeah sure they increase but the most important thing that's squeezing the ppl is the govt.

1) Our population has grown, our roads have become wider and expressways, our working population demand quicker, better and comfortable air-con public buses and subways ? if that is the case , why singaporean have to wait for more then 20mins for a bus to arrive ? comfortable ? if that is the case , why singaporean have to bear with over-crowed bus ?

2) You can't have all these at 1960s prices where there were smoky and rickety Hock Lee buses, Tay Koh Yat buses, STC buses and of course the pirate taxis. You can't go and eat in a foodcourt now and demand sarabat stall prices ? does it mean that singapore goverment must support min wages ?

3) This is the reality. Transport industry is heavily dependent on oil - and that has taken a huge chunk of the company's operating cost. Newer and better buses cost lots of money. Bus drivers need a reasonable salary to survive and work well. ? why bus company hire FT ( BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAPER ) so how much is the salary for bus driver ? 4k per month ? dont you know nowaday bus company are buying china brand bus ( which is much more cheaper ) ? which mean bus company is saving more money then before ...YET , they are increasing the fare ..

1. I agree with you on this.

2. We are not asking for 1960's price which myo539 is saying. Which I am about to elaborate in the next point.

3. The transport companies are bringing in FT's and purchasing cheap China buses to reduce their capital costs, yet still increasing transport fares. A win-win situation. They think nothing much about commuters' discomfort and safety in driving their costs down and increasing their profits.

Compare the English and German buses they are currently operating. These are proven buses made by well-known companies that put safety and comfort above all else in manufacturing their products.

One day to lower their costs, who knows they might buy buses from India or even buy 2nd hand buses?

Commuters are being made the sacrificial lamb at the alter of the crazy and greedy duo-poly monsters, created by the PAP and supported by fools such as myo539.

To solve the problem of the transport like pack and traffic jam. Try to find job/work near to the home. That the best solution.
