You must be talking about serangoon road branch. According to my field reports, there is no queue at other outlets, eg Suntec. RUN experienced before that they intentionally make the queue form up, by taking orders slowly, reducing the counter staff from 2 to 1.

There was also once, that they announced to RUN that "rice no ready" at 6pm plus so that the queue formed up.

Business is good but too wayang. True, Singaporeans love to queue but intentionally waste RUN's time, RUN don't like.

if want good and cheap nasi lemak, cross the road and go to hougang st 21 aka kovan market/food centre, the malay stall nasi lemak many times nicer and cost only $2.50. before market renovated, it only $2. i like to buy their rendang home to "add dish". only $5 and enough for 3 persons.

i cannot remember the stall name but it located in the corner and the stall directly behind it is a drink/desert stall.

The most profitable, and successful food biz, or just biz, is McDonald's, in Sg, US, anywhere and everywhere in the world. It starts fresh in every country, a newcomer, and uphill against foods the locals have grown used to, and overtakes by clever and consistent marketing. After a while, it's customers range from young children, to retirees and everyone in between. It does not take skill to be able to work in their establishments, just willingness. It is the best biz to run in the entire world. It is unhealthy, junk food that is crappy. But it sells, lots.

I like the mix-vegetable rice stall at Kovan market. The beef is very nice.

Even under the old market layout, i dont remember there an ah neh stall at all. Not many ah neh live in the northeast in the past, only recently there more prata stalls/shop at hdb coffeeshop.

another food that malay stall that is good and cheap is lontong. big serving with plenty of veggie. dunno why nowsaday the malay uncle no longer man the stall, instead his kids and wife only. when his stall still at the upper level b4 the renovation, he usually alone in the afternnon till he close ard 7-8pm in the evening.
