The 50-year-old will make only one enforced change to his starting line-up but plans to use all six substitutes permitted in Singapore

Brazil coach Dunga says he intends to use all six substitutes when his side meet Japan at the National Stadium in Singapore on Tuesday.

Since succeeding former coach Luiz Felipe Scolari following the World Cup, the 50-year-old has only made enforced changes to his preferred starting line-up because of injuries.

Corinthians defender Gil is expected to replace David Luiz, who picked up a thigh injury in the 2-0 Gillette Superclasico de las Americas victory on Saturday, but Dunga says he plans to experiment in what will be the final match of the Gillette Brasil Global Tour's stay in Asia this month.

“The intention is to use all six substitutions we are allowed,” Dunga told the press in Singapore.

“Mainly because of the long trip to China, the intense game we had against Argentina in the smog [in Beijing]. We will give an opportunity to new players who are in the squad.”

Goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, defenders Mario Fernandes and Dodo, and midfielder Souza are all hoping to make their debuts against Japan, but the starting line-up appears to have just one chance.

Expected Brazil line-up: Jefferson; Danilo, Miranda, Gil, Filipe Luis; Elias, Luiz Gustavo; Willian, Oscar, Neymar; Diego Tardelli.

Dunga is hoping for another exciting performance in what will be his fourth match since returning for his second stint as Brazil boss, but admits a tricky playing surface in Singapore may impede his team’s ability to implement his dynamic, counter-attacking style.

“The quality of Brazilian players means were are always expected to put on a good show, but we need a good pitch to play speed and with intensity. The intention, every time we play, is to produce a good show.”

After a glittering playing career that took him from his native Brazil to Italy and Germany, Dunga spent three years with Japanese side Jubilo Iwata and says that the overall standard of play in the country has improved dramatically in the 15 years since he left the J-League.

“A lot of time has passed [since then]” he said. “Then the Japanese players had little less international experience. Today, many of them play abroad and their national team has improved greatly.”

Brazil have won all three games since Dunga’s return, keeping three clean sheets. Japan grabbed their first win under new coach Javier Aguirre on Friday with a 1-0 victory over Jamaica.
