Why earlier models like Mi 4i and Redmi 2 can support dual active, dual standby (3G/4G on SIM 1) (3G/4G on SIM 2)

but not the latest model?

Most phones can only have 3g or 4g on one slot while the other is 2g and so handsets with dual sim will become single sim when 2G gets terminated.
