Travel between Thailand and Malaysia is about to get even easier with the return of the direct Bangkok–Butterworth train service. Expected to be fully operational by 2025. No transfers needed.

That was under previous PM.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I’m curious if anyone has tried the route more recently. If the full direct service is really on track for 2025, it could change how many of us plan cross-border trips. Has anyone heard updates on ticket prices or how early booking might work once it launches?

I’d check closer to 2025 for the final timetable, since times often shift. I’d still keep an eye on border rules, but the ride itself should be way smoother now.
