my parents were uneducated and poor but are now in good finances with a hdb flat that appreciated in value tenfold since they first bought it, no debts, tiny pension, disability compensation, affordable medical care, humble savings, and enough for basic daily needs including occasional affordable luxuries such as kopi and kueh. lately just found out they have broadband at home but seldom it is used due to lack of gadgets and devices. next project for me is to hand them down my older ipads and macbooks, teach them in their use, in order for them to get in touch daily with the rest of family and friends. in other words it's time for them to join social media and the 21st century. they are happy, sinkies are blessed, thanks to the pap.

What's wrong with climbing to the top of the mountain using your legs and hands? It's good exercise and an advantage that they are trained from young unlike sinkie grandpas & grandmas who have to start their cardboard exercises late in life.

Had an acquaintance from Citibank who went to China for a working visit. Came down with high fever and the hotel arranged for a doctor who recommended hospital admission. He spent 2 days in an Army hospital. The bill was less than $10. He was impressed and shared his experience. When he was asked if he wanted to be posted there, he refused. From air pollution, water quality, vegetables washed with dirty water, tainted food, people driving the wrong way etc. were reasons given by him. After that he stopped talking about China let alone the cheap hospital bill.
