this is very confusing. really to all those audience who witnessed the table tennis match. they see prcs vs prcs but we saw "sgporeans" vs prcs. man!! this is very confusing!!

did singapore really beat the crap out of china to be champion or did we pay the prcs to be sgporeans to beat the crap out of china win the trophy?

none of the women paddlers are local. all are "bought" FT-singaporean converts. All being paid lavishly to trash their own prc comrades.

dunno to feel proud or embarrass. so pai seh, in fact.:p

no wonder sometime the ang mo foreigners still think singapore is part of china cos the prcs in sgp are so common and similar to that they see in prc china.:p

and no wonder now we even have to talk like true-breed prc. FAINT!!

since sgp is able to buy the female table tennis champion trophy, perhaps it's about time they rid the men's team and buy the champion PRC men's team over.

in the next world tournament, sgp shall win both the MEN and WOMEN trophies. that would be doubly pride and honour.

after we did that, we can continue buy badminton trophy, gymnastic, diving and etc.

by the next olympic, sgp might rank among the top 3 in the metals tally. then everyone would be really proud about all our wonderful prudent purchases.

wadeva! All these purchases r cheap compared to e billions lost..:) better bargain...

The ang mo foreigners are plain ignorant that's all. It's due to their own laziness & perhaps their superiority complex! Even before S'pore has China Chinese (read table tennis players) among it's ranks, they didn't even know there's a place called S'pore nestled at the tip of the Malay peninsula. They lazily think it's China. What if Taiwan had beaten China? Will it still be China beat China? :D

sgp failed to buy snooker trophy cos the taiwanese champion complained it was too cheap. if not we might have bought or rather won successfully another trophy to the HALL OF HOW LIAN collections.

the question now is whether new citizen singaporeans are a "purchased" lot becos of the monetary seduction offered to hem or are they really loyal per se as a singaporean?

when these new citizens have made enough money here, they would gladly forsake and return to their own country. if that's the case, wouldn't we be short-changed?

could our gov be overly indulged and obsessed with fame that shouldn't have rightfully belonged to us? those resources, energy and time spent on them be better utlitised for more pratical and honest endeavours to our own singaporeans?

it's too extravagance and foolish to chase after something that singapore cannot produce naturally. resorting to all such pride and fame chasing just to put singapore a name and place in the sports arena makes a mockery out of authentic sportsmanship.

which one is an authentic SINGAPOREAN in this pic?

Some STOMPers have pointed out that Singapore's national paddler Li Jiawei has signed up to play the Beijing team in the China Table Tennis Super League. In a Beijing Daily (北京日报) report in April, Jiawei's father, Li Wanxiang, told Chinese reporters that his daughter will be playing for the Beijing team after the Moscow World Championships.

According to the report in Chinese:

"'Jiawei has signed on with the Beijing team, and will start preparing for the Super League after the Moscow World Championships,' said Li Wanxiang, father of Singapore's national paddler Li Jiawei.

"28-year-old Li Jiawei is born in Beijing, and started learning table tennis from her father at 6 years old. Li Jiawei was selected for the Beijing team and was teammates with other outstanding table tennis players. At age 13, Li Jiawei went to Singapore to develop her career, and obtained citizenship there.

"With her unique technique, she went on to become a strong challenger to China's players. In the Beijing Olympics, she led the Singapore team to a silver, the first in the republic's history."

The China Table Tennis Super League (中国乒乓球超级联赛) is the top table tennis division under the Chinese Table Tennis Association

since we can buy them over with money, the same can buy them over with more money.

then what does their new citizenship $ingaporean represent? money, of course!

so next time li jia wei beats sgp would it be "singaporean" winning for PRC againt singapore or PRC quitter winning for PRC?
