How did he deal with the enemy ?
The one whose evil has gripped the whole of his mind,
like a creeper gradually overgrow even the tallest tree,
is, without compare, his own worst enemy ...

I think the Buddha himself never saw anybody as an enemy. But there was one guy why tried to fix him - Gautama's own cousin, Devadatta.
<<<How did he deal with the enemy ?>>>
Buddha didn't really do anything.
Devadatta tried to cause internal strife within the order of monks by asking one monk to propose 5 rules, one of which was vegetarianism. These were different from the Buddha's own rules. Buddha rejected the proposals. In the end, Devadatta's attempt failed as the disciples returned to the Buddha.
Devadatta also tried to kill the Buddha by rolling a boulder towards him. Boulder missed but small splinter hit Buddha's foot and caused bleeding.
Devadatta then incited an elephant to stampede in the Buddha's direction. But the elephant stopped just when it reached the Buddha.
Legend has it that Devadatta was swallowed up by the earth and he died. Went to avici hell where he still remains.
