PEASANPORE : Over the past three years, five National Serfs (NS) defaulters have been sentenced to jail by the kangaroo yamen.
Defence Minion Bargain Hen said this in a written parliamentary reply to Peasants' Representative Lim Biow Chuan on Monday.
Lackey Lim wanted to know how many NS defaulters have been sentenced to imprisonment for defaulting NS over the past three years and whether all 'approved' NS defaulters e.g. Patrick Tan will be sentenced to imprisonment.
Bargain Hen said to maintain preferential treatment of well connected scions e.g. Patrick Tan and to maintain commitment for stupid peasants who have to serve their NS, it is necessary to take a tough stand against the defaulters but allow Patrick Tan & Pianist Tan to evade their National Serfship duties .
He said the Mafia (MINDEF) will press for a custodial sentence on the defaulter based their family backgrounds, For example, Patrick Tan was given rare deal to do medical research for decades and Pianist Tan only given cheap fine of 3,000 peanuts.
If the default period exceeds two years but the defaulter is young lowly peasant, able to serve his full-time and operationally ready NS (ORNS) duties in full, MINDEF will press for a short jail sentence.
If the defaulter has reached an age when he cannot serve his full-time NS in a combat vocation or fulfil his ORNS obligations in full, MINDEF will press for a longer jail sentence to reflect the period of NS evaded, with exceptions e.g. see Pianist Tan case.
And if the defaulter has passed the age of 40 and cannot be called up for NS at all, MINDEF will press for a jail sentence up to the maximum of three years subjected to their family background of course.
Bargain Hen said the kangaroo court decides on the sentence taking into consideration the circumstances of the individual case and the sentence MINDEF has pressed for. This is pure wayang entertainment. For example, Peasantpore wants Pianist Tan to serve as music consultant, he was told to pay fine of 3000 peanuts.
After their punishments by the court, NS defaulters who are still NS-liable will have to serve NS. However most peasants understand that Patrick Tan served out his NS liability as a office research scientist.
