In the 90s, a certain gentleman by the name of TT Durai thru his lawyers sued close to 50 overs people over a period of time. All of them including the 2 people mentioned below who settled rather than go to court. Why did they settle. TT Durai was known Singapore wide for his NKF. Yet the cabin crew and the management of SIA, the Board of Directors and staff of NKF and many others remained quiet while these incidents were reported in the press.

Eventually the truth came out. Durai indeed was flying first class on Singapore Airlines. Durai incidently is also a former practising lawyer.

Why did the establishment keep quiet. Why did the Board keep quiet. And the Board had a full professor from NUS as well. Is this a Singapore trait - the notorius fear factor. The second trait is all and every claim is false unless the Straits Times says otherwise.

Durai had been flying first class. The former mentioned in April 1997 that the NKF "squandered monies" in a casual conversation with former chairman of NKF's finance committee Alwyn Lim,[SUP][1][/SUP] while the latter has claimed that he had personally seen Mr Durai in Singapore Airlines' first-class cabin. Both paid an undisclosed amount of damages to the NKF, and apologised.[SUP][2][/SUP] News of the suit affected Ong's cancer-suffering father, who eventually died in hospital. Shortly after the 2005 scandal broke, Ong mentioned to the press that he felt "fully vindicated now. I had more than a hundred calls today to wish me well."[SUP][3]"[/SUP]

speaking from personal ongoing experience as someone who is constantly being taunted by a lawyer, i can say its the fear factor. making your life a psychological hell.. and the bullying tactic from people who have more money and resources than you
people who use their money, and their their SO CALLED social standing in politics and life to scare and bully you through the lawyer

if you can waste/spend LESS money by settling, do it. ether way you got to spend money anyway, so try to spend less

I am sure they have a fairly good idea of who you are. Only thing holding them back is that the truth will be known.

Doing a Durai is best for now. Especially when we do not have a free press. Frightening the monkeys by suing is the next best thing they can do.
