The body of an unidentified person found near the back gates of the Istana on Tuesday morning has been removed.

Police have cordoned the area along Cavenagh Road and are investigating.

Onlookers have reported a rotten stench in the area.

At about 12.50pm, a man arrived at the scene in a truck, asking if the body belonged to a 77-year-old man believed to be his father.

He spoke to police, asking for a description of the body and eventually left.
