Decomposed body found hanging from tree in Beach Road area

A man was jogging along Republic Avenue on Monday evening (Aug 3) when he came across the sight of a decomposed corpse hanging on a tree.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, it was about 7pm when he spotted it.

The deceased is believed to be a man in his 30s. When discovered, the body had turned black and the man is believed to have been dead for about five or six days.

At about 8.30pm, about 20 plainclothes policemen cordoned off the area. Armed with torchlights, masks and gloves, they went about the forested area to investigate.

Fifteen minutes later, SCDF arrived with a ladder and electric saws to cut down the tree and retrieve the corpse.

At about 10pm, police officers finally brought the body out of the forested area, which was emitting a strong smell from the decomposition.

Investigations into the unnatural death are ongoing, police said.
