Decline of TOC, TRE, SDP site...What is left?

wif the demise of TRE.(what did u do to it Scroobal?!)..SDP site becoming stale...decline of TOC...is there anything out there worth a look see...

I wish I had a hand where TRE is concerned. I understand that the good doctor's direct link to TRE has been established. TOC the moment it was gazetted was a gonner. It is more a social site. SDP is also gone with Jufrie and Cheng running. Seems to be an old folks home for lightweight and lost ex-detainees

I suspect it is going to be relevance and the times that will decide the next phase. I actually think the PAP is on the backfoot not because of opposition tactics but their methods are laughable and no longer savvy in the eyes of the young. Just look at the PE. They nearly lost their pants.

I think it is diversifying, which can be a good thing. You can still pick up (less) gems from TOC and from NAR, NN, Satay Club and the new Public House, instead of the once dominant TOC. Two of them are formed by ex-TOC members. TRE was never actually anything. To be fair, even the MSM has marginally improved.

I also sense that they will not get a profile in another political party that they had in SDP or an SDP with some of the high profile GE candidates who are recent arrival. It may also not be design as it appears that a breakaway is likely led by TJS who has already left and they have to protect their party. Might lend weight to why CSJ wants to have direct control over the active youth members.

recently had a peek at TRE's facebook site n saw them bitching abt u, apart fm TNP, Wanbao etc!!...LOL...always took it wif a pinch of salt but still must say it provided good entertainment n at times afew nuggets as well...whatever's going on looks like the bad taste still lingers between other 'players' like say kojakbt(richard wan) n gilbert goh...probably due to the usual egos n agendas...also always found it strange how msm, sph grp in particular use to 'cover' TRE at times...probably other black arts forces at play??...

yes...disappointing nowadays...side tracked on a whole host of peripheral issues like 377A, death penalty etc...most articles also lack bite n those replying mainly the same old tired bunch...

perhaps...but i did enjoy the spice n intrigue...also recall it actually outed a town council's management committee over certain issues of interest...

NAR is the work of Donaldson Tan and Kelvin Teo the founder and lead writer and soul of the original Kent Ridge Common. Both were screwed by Double Chin. They are probably the best and most reliable and certainly don't have a fake British PPE. Unfortunately they are following a commercial model and does not have the "rebel tag" that people are looking for.

NN is led by SPH and Journalism reject and Nicole boyfriend Belmont Lay and 2 ex-TOC folks - Fang Shihan and Terence Lee. The problem is that they are not sure what they want to offer.

For both , unfortunately penetrating articles are not there and understandly so after the muzzling of TOC.

Donaldson, Kelvin and Shihan are probably the best and brightest that we have. Wish they were a team.

they are not bad, and split from toc probably it was under andrew loh then. if they stand together, they can trounce the current toc as toc now is full of bleedyheart welfare state aspirations pieces. however, the public don't want to read piercing stuff on religion, foreign affairs, economics. they want sob sob human interest fluff that toc has carved out a niche in.
