We've taken a hit but we will overcome

By Ignatius Low, Money Editor

THE financial landscape has changed irrevocably and things will never be the same again.

That is the first thing DBS chairman Koh Boon Hwee tells you as he starts speaking, and it is a line he will repeat at least 10 times over the next hour.

He wants you to remember it, because it will dictate the bank's strategy going into the global economic downturn and the way it deals with customers and staff in future.

DBS prefers to promote from within

THE days of DBS flying in all sorts of outside talent to be its top brass are over, says bank chairman Koh Boon Hwee.

Instead, it now prefers to promote from within its ranks and move its brightest people from department to department.

'If you look at the people in the key positions now, they have all been with the bank for a good part of their career and we have successfully rotated them from one job to another so that they actually understand the whole bank better,' he notes.

In other words, they have been wasting money getting FT's who do not understand the bank's working mechahism & culture..in short!, they had been farked!:(

No one will trust the Leegime anymore. They lost their mandate to rule. Even if they gerrymander and cheat to win this time, it will work. Political stability can only be guaranteed without PAP and LKY.

If his internal people are that good, he won't have to:

1) Use retrench as an excuse to kill off the sales team(assumption) on High Notes;

2) Retrench people at all, retrench means you have excess people for the job, and it is a time when the less capables are removed. This could mean that they have hired more than they need to get the job dones, people inside is not efficient enough;

3) His people won't have franshise bad investment products. Further these people whom he claimed good failed to see the failing investments and protect their customers;

If he is good, he won't be asking his people to tighten control on investors ie. customers while not focusing on getting good and reliable investment franchises.

The trust placed by the "Singaporen" people in DBS has all but been lost.

First you screwed, the old uncles and aunties, retirees with the selling of minibombs and now dragging the feet on the resolution.

Next you screw them with your retrenchments of the local people, and your FT CEO and all the other FTs still hanging around waiting for Dec 08 to collect their fat bonuses.

Now you tell us, the people in key position has been with the banks for many years and claims to understand the bank better. Locals or FTs is the question here.

Now which is which?.

they don't care how the world think about them anymore, they are selfish for their own reasons.

If DBS is truly repentant, it should at the very least review ALL the High Notes series it sold over the past few years and offer to buy them back from vulnerable or mis-sold investors.

I am sure if there was mis-selling in HN5, then there will be mis-selling in all other HN series.

Deep down in the abyss of DBS heart...... the management knows DBS cannot stand up to scrutiny in the court of law regarding these products.... from the structring to the product assessment to the training to the sales and to the after sales reassurance.
