The Ka Ching$!

"If only I had bet on every match that Paul the Octopus had predicted, I'd be rich and I'd be happier with all that extra moolah!"
That thought did pass my mind for a split second, and I'm pretty sure it is the type of preoccupation that is more lingering for many others.
Pragmatically speaking, money would be an important item on anyone's happiness index. Economic well-being is important in ensuring one's basic necessities are met.
I mean honestly speaking, if you're born into an affluent country such as Singapore and suddenly had spend the next 10 years living in poverty in Africa, I doubt you'd be feeling very chirpy.
But at the same time, there is a lot of evidence that being wealthier isn't making us that much happier. Once you have a home, food and clothes... what really makes you satisfied and joyful from deep within?
Extra money buys us short bursts of pleasure, whether it is a new dress or indulging in a new car. The pleasure is fleeting.

I gotta admit, I was on cloud 9 when this was mine to drive for a week

I reckon the main usefulness of extra money is that it gives me more opportunity and time to grow happiness in more meaningful ways and to share it with others.
For instance, I needn't worry about making ends meet and focus on spending quality time with my loved ones and pampering them. I can aid the less fortunate with donations. Giving is truly receiving.
Extra money helps in fulfilling the other 9 items of my happiness index.... So read on!!!
