ALOR SETAR: A university undergraduate and his father were arrested for allegedly making air rifles in Baling.

Kedah CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Nashir Ya said that the air rifles were recovered with the arrest of the father, in his 50s, at a house in Kampung Tanjung Pari, Siong, at 3.45pm on Tuesday.

“His son was subsequently arrested in Baling town at about 11am yesterday. Our investigations showed that the son, who is in his 20s, had learnt to make the rifles through the Internet.

“The rifles were made about two weeks ago. We are now trying to determine if the rifles were for sale or to be rented out for criminal purposes,” he told a press conference.

ACP Mohd Nashir said that the father and son were not affiliated to any syndicates, adding that they have since been remanded pending investigation into the case under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960.
