After God spoke to the fathers many times and in many ways through the prophets, in these last days he spoke to us through His Son, whom he appointed to inherit everything, through whom he also made the world”.
(Hebrews 1, verses 1 and 2)

Sometimes you can’t believe your eyes: “The Koran as the third testament of the Bible”?

The cultural representative of the EKD, Johann Hinrich Claussen, describes the Koran as a ‘third testament’ in a review in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on October 10th

This was reported in ideaSpektrum No. 43 from October 21, 2020.

The EKD Cultural Commissioner agrees with the Muslim view that it was necessary to correct the true revelation of God. This required a new prophet who reveals the ultimate truth to us, and after whom no more comes.

Jesus Christ is no longer the Son of God, but is demoted to a prophet. The trinity, polytheism from a Muslim point of view, also becomes obsolete.

The EKD handout “Clarity and good neighborliness: Christians and Muslims in Germany” from 2006 still contains a clear Christian confession, with the affirmation of the missionary mandate, according to which the message of God’s justification for all the world is to be oriented.

Apparently the EKD has now revised this position. Mention is made of the theologian Margot Käßmann, who sees Luther’s relevance today in the fact that we can learn from other religions that besides Christ there are other ways to reach God. Luther himself didn’t really practice this, but luckily we’re much further ahead today.

The EKD is also adapted: “The challenge is to speak of Christ, but in such a way that the faith of the other is not devalued or declared untrue.” The church does without “one-way communication”, no longer wants to be an “organizer.” “And” providers “appear, but will profile, concentrate and, if necessary, reduce their own offers in close and lasting coordination with civil society partners.

No longer speak of Christ in plain language. Because the exclusivity of Jesus Christ can be perceived as presumptuous and arrogant in a religiously plural society. Perhaps one wants to discuss the contents of Christian belief with the Central Council of Muslims in the future?

One recognizes a widespread disorientation.
