I was going through my bills & noticed that in my recent visa bill there was a charge from www.cashoo.eu
I've never heard of this company & filed a dispute against this credit card charge.

This is the 1st time such a thing has happened

I don't know how they got my credit card number. I usually use my CC for online purchases, preferring to pay cash whenever possible. Has anyone faced similar problems:confused:

Cashoo is an online payment portal. If you buy something on the net, the site you purchased stuff from is using cashoo to process the transaction. That's why cashoo.eu appears on your statement.

The only problem is that I haven't been ordering things that would have gone through Cashoo:(

I notice that Cashoo is based in Europe & I only order stuff from the US. In my experience companies that use a cash payment portal would use one from the same country e.g. paypal for the US.

The internet does not bother about international borders. I'm not saying that the charge isn't fraudulent. I'm just suggesting you check your statement against what you purchased on the net. A US company could well be using cashoo and shipping from the eu for tax or exchange rate advantages.

Last tum, no paypal.com.sg

Think about it.

That's why I dislike using services like paypal as it makes it harder to track your purchase from the internet as all the bills come under paypal. Fortunately I have not done alot of purchases during this holiday period & that's why this transaction stood out like a sore thumb.

Not everyone is as vigilant about their expenses & that's probably why the scammers get away with it. In my case it was only a US245.95 charge.

Sure would like to know how they got my visa details:confused: I've already reported it to my bank & they've frozen the card. In future I intend to make a record each time I use my card.

Things like these are quite common. These guys instead of putting the vendors name, put the payment processors name. Really a nuisance.

Discreet billing using another (neutral) name.

For example a gun enthusiast doesn't want the company's name to reflect on his bill. So the Firearms co. respect it's customers privacy and have a way around this.

Cashoo will show on your bill instead of "Arizona Firearms" - Online Gun Store

I haven't used any discreet services recently :)

I remember that when SIA dings you for exceeding the luggage allowance they will use some euphemistic term like a service charge so that you can make a claim if you are flying under company time. Makes claiming from the company easier;)

It's also the same as porn. Imagine you purchased a membership from a shit eating site you wouldn't want that name showing on your statement right? :D

If you really feel strongly that you never make that purchase then you should dispute the charge. Don't let scammers get away with it! You can never be too careful with internet security these days. I use DBS for my online bill payment, which is secure and whichever transactions I make..i always keep an receipt so at the end of the month when the bill comes, i can always verify my purchases..

When I saw a suspicious charge on my Maybank VISA I immediately notified the bank. They immediately cancelled the card & reversed the charge. Those scammers will try to do small transactions so that it is over looked by the card owner. However if you are like me who only use a CC card for special purchases these transactions however small stand out like a sore thumb. I haven't heard from the bank about this issue which leaves me to suspect that it is a common occurence:(

If you have multiple CC cards, avoid using all of them at the same time because it makes tracking purchases harder. I just keep the extra cards for backup & only use 1 card. This is especially important when you travel because in the past I rented something & when I returned the item the merchant forgot to do a reversal. Fortunately I had enough funds to take care of the balance of my expenditures. Sometimes the banks VISA verification system is down & you have to use an alternate card or cash.

Each year when I receive the bill for the service charge for these CC cards, I politely ask that the charge be waived & so far all the credit card issuers have waived the fees, eve though I've never used some of these cards. It's a tough market out there, I'm sure that many have noticed the banks are pushing CC cards;) They are unlikely to make an issue over the service fees because as consumers we can chose not to use CC cards & they know it:)
