The police were knocking on his door.

Desperate to destroy evidence, the suspected pimp threw a computer and several documents out the window of his sixth storey flat at Block 212, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

Police officers had to saw through the 3-room flat's front gate and break the lock before they were able to arrest the 35-year-old man.

The arrest on Wednesday at about 8pm was part of a six-hour operation at Ang Mo Kio, Jelapang Road, Mergui Road and Rangoon Road.

The raids were targeted against an online vice syndicate.

Several plainclothes police officers were seen photographing evidence - pieces of the smashed computer, keys and polyfoam bags - scattered at the grass field at the block, reported Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao.

The raid on the flat in Ang Mo Kio lasted three hours, during which police officers confiscated eight bags worth of notebooks, mobile phones and money.

Important

The notebooks and phones are believed to contain important information regarding the vice syndicate.

Residents told Lianhe Wanbao that they heard a loud sound at around 8pm, most likely from the impact of computer hitting the ground.

A 35-year-old neighbour, who did not wish to be named, described the suspect as about 1.65mtall and plump.

The neighbour, who lives two units away from him, said she had seen foreign women at the flat before.

"I remember noticing a lot of foreign girls coming in and out of the flat," she said.

A total of 10 people were arrested for suspected involvement in vice activities in the raids on Wednesday night.

They were made up of two males, including the pimp, and eight females aged between 19 and 37.

Business records of the syndicate, several computers, mobile phones and about $26,000 in cash were seized.

Police investigations are ongoing.
