A new infection linked to the Delta variant of the coronavirus is also raging through the country.

Mucormycosis, or black fungus, is spreading so quickly that the government has declared it an epidemic. Cases have also been reported as far afield as Uruguay and Egypt.

There are no cases residing in dormitories today.

c) Imported cases: 5

Amongst the 5 imported cases,

  • 2 (Cases 64256 and 64259) are Singaporeans who returned from India and the UK.
  • 3 (Cases 64247, 64250 and 64253) are Work Permit holders who arrived from Indonesia, all of whom are foreign domestic workers.

c) Imported cases: 7

Amongst the 7 imported cases,
  • 1 (Case 64277) is a Singaporean and 2 (Cases 64275 and 64276) are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from India.
  • 3 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom 2 (Cases 64287 and 64294) are foreign domestic workers.
  • 1 (Case 64265) entered Singapore waters from Indonesia without valid documentation, and was arrested by the Singapore Police Force’s Police Coast Guard. He was tested for COVID-19 infection, and isolated until he was conveyed to the hospital when his result came back positive.
  • They have all already been placed on SHN or isolated upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN.
