This young couple ignored the fact that they were in full view of children and other commuters, and continued to behave intimately while travelling on the MRT train.

STOMPer abc, who witnessed this public display of affection, felt that their behaviour was inappropriate as there were many children around.

She says:

"This couple was hugging and kissing in the train.

"The passengers were staring yet they continued making out.

"They didn't care that there were children around.

"People were staring at their indecent act and were shaking their heads."

STOMPer banotict saw these secondary school students making out from his flat at Yishun yesterday evening. The couple were from the school just opposite the HDB block.

The STOMPer says of this incident:

"I saw this couple from Yishun Town Secondary School making out opposite my house at block 210-plus.

"It happened around 5 or 6 in the evening, so I guess it was after their lessons had ended.

"This is the first time I have seen them making out at the staircase.

"They were kissing and hugging for about 15 to 20 minutes.

"It's inappropriate behaviour as it is a public area and people may walk past them.

"Not so much the adults, but in the evenings, a lot of kids go downstairs to play.

"It would be a bad influence on the kids."

Install coin-operated seats in trains

I refer to last Sunday's article, 'When push comes to shove...', in which experts and commuters weighed in on ways to ease overcrowding in trains.

On the suggestion for foldable seats in trains, SMRT vice-president of rail operations Vincent Tan said it was 'not feasible' because 'there will be commuters who still prefer a seat during peak hours and would fold down the chairs to sit, making such a scheme less effective'.

Would he consider installing some coin-operated seats, which unfold only after a coin is inserted?

This will allow free market forces to operate, so that passengers can choose whether or not to pay for the additional 'luxury'.

Senior citizens, pregnant women and those with physical disabilities can ask the customer service staff each time they pass the fare gate for a free token to use the coin-operated seats.

This idea may, once and for all, solve the problem of people hogging seats reserved for senior citizens, pregnant women and the disabled.

who's e idiot who keep coming up with idea that use $$$ to solve problem ? pay for your seat in MRT, pay double for overnite parking, pay more ERP charges for better traffic control. Well done , they are living up to their name 'Pay and Pay' . Is there a unpublish condition that all new 'solution' must contribute to the country reserved ?

actually his idea is good . but instead of coin-operated seats , change it to card-operated seat . MRT control station will give the card free to those people who really need it . and the card machine will not return those "card " to them after they use it , just in case they misuse it , and pass the cards around to their friends .

but i think it will never work in sngapore because the goverment will never do something free for its people without asking for $$$ . they will not waste $ investing in those machine ...unless they increase the MRT fare ... . and its a good excuse for them

in some carriages, all seats already been removed and now that idiot suggest we insert coin to take back the seats.
