Countdown party to ‘heavily’ involve new citizens and PRs
December 21st, 2010 | Author: Editorial

Tanjong Pagar GRC will be organizing a countdown party on
New Year’s eve at Tiong Bahru Park which will ‘heavily’ involve
new citizens and PRs, according to the organizers.
The party will feature bands and dance-troupes from various
countries such as Myanmar and China to reflect the growing
number of new citizens from these places in Singapore.
It is not known how much money will be splurged on the
event. PAP grassroots organizations have been celebrating
cultural festivals of other countries of late using taxpayers’
monies to make the immigrants feel accepted and happy
in Singapore.
A mega $10-million Community Integration Fund was unveiled
last year to help the newcomers ‘integrate’ into Singapore.
Tanjong Pagar GRC was helmed by PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew
who has indicated his desire to contest in the coming general election.
In an email interview with Straits Times, Lee said the opposition is
‘welcomed’ to contest in Tanjong Pagar, but there are few issues for
them to ‘exploit’.
‘I would say there are no pressing political issues for the opposition
to exploit. The people are happy…..with most first generation residents
having paid off their loans, housing is not an issue in Tanjong Pagar,’ he wrote.
Tanjong Pagar is indeed becoming a ‘happier’ place with the influx
of ‘happy’ new citizens and PRs who must be eternally grateful
to the PAP for giving them a fresh lease in life.

This is a great celebration that shows SG generosity to all immigrants. A great event to attract future talents.
