Could LKY's passing be PAP's saving grace during the next GE?

There's a good chance the two events could happen close to each other. If this were a more democratic country, I would expect a surge of sympathy to the party of the beloved late elder statesman, and a GE taking place soon after would basically be all about LKY. But in Singapore this could well have the opposite effect - of people losing confidence in PAP because LKY has essentially never left office, and of a new courage among people previously afraid to vote against the PAP. Which effect can we expect to prevail?
