Cosplay killing: Ng Yuk Tim’s 10-year-old sister leads funeral procession

KUALA LUMPUR: The mood at the Kwong Tong funeral parlour was sombre as more than a 100 came to pay their last respects to slain 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim.
Among her scores of friends and family attending the ceremony were two of Yuk Tim's classmates from primary school.
Natalie Siow and Nicole Teng, both in their school uniforms, took time off school to say their last goodbyes to Ng Yuk Tim.
"I found out about Yuk Tim's death when it came out in the news.
"I was shocked about what happened to her during the last few hours of her death," said 15-year-old Natalie.
Nicole, also the same age, said that Yuk Tim was a happy-go-lucky girl and was always there for her friends.
Yuk Tim's 10-year-old sister and her aunt Serene Sim, 31, were the only representatives of the family in the ceremony.
The little girl bravely led the funeral procession as teary-eyed friends and relatives followed closely.
Her mother Sim Yee Ling said it was part of Taoist tradition for the parents and grandparents of the deceased not be in the ceremony.
Yuk Tim was last seen leaving her home on Monday at 11am to meet her suspected murderer to work on cosplay outfits for an upcoming competition.
The 23-year-old suspect allegedly tried to rape Yuk Tim before bludgeoning her head with a dumbbell.
Her body was found in a suitcase at Kota Kemuning on Tuesday night.
The suspect has been remanded until Oct 29 to facilitate investigations.
