SINGAPORE - A well-known local cosmetic surgeon was Wednesday charged in court for getting an elderly employee take the blame for two speeding offences.
Woffles Wu, hailed as one of the world's most famous aesthetic surgeons, had allegedly conspired with Mr Kuan Yit to provide incorrect information to the police.
Wu's car was captured speeding on two occasions in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, the driver of the car was caught speeding along Lornie road at about 4pm on September 11. He was travelling at 95kmh when the speed limit is 70kmh.
On the morning of November 10 the following year, the car was again captured speeding at 91kmh along Adam Road, which has a speed limit of 70kmh.
Mr Kuan allegedly lied to the police saying he was the driver on both occasions.
The Straits Times reported that court papers did not reveal who the actual driver was.
If convicted of abetting Mr Kuan to provide misleading information to the Traffic Police, Wu can be fined up to $1,000 and/or jailed for up to six months.
Wu is represented by Mr Philip Fong of Harry Elias Partnership. Both left the courtroom immediately after the hearing, reported the English daily.
The case will continue on May 9.
