It seems the campaigns of some of the 4 candidates are not going to plan. Symptoms of this faltering include:

  • more lukewarm than usual responses from residents
  • smaller attendances at rallies than expected
  • technical innovation (e.g. youtube rally) being made subject of entertainment
  • illness at feedback session
  • etc.

Some are doubtless contemplating a cooling-off day surprise, a non-campaign event or announcement to which the opponents cannot respond without breaking the rules.

Perhaps we could think about what some of these might be so as to anticipate them.

Tin Pei Lin got away with violation of cooling day. She blamed it on her administrator. The police pretended not to know.

Thinking of a Chen Shuibian?

I don't think so. Anything like an assassination attempt will be viewed with deep suspicion and will make the police look very very bad. It would not help the perpetrating party at all.
