once they became ministerial material, they need to move out and stay away from low ses peasants. I remember Tin Pei Lin or someone mentioned about the government advised their MP to stay in private landed property, if possible. i think those very junior one can continue to stay in HDB until they served at least 2 terms to be able to afford a landed property.
