Practically all football fans pay lots of attention and attribute lots of prestige to the World Cup and the Euro, but few take notice of the Confederations Cup which can be quite interesting too.
It's held once every 4 years in the year preceeding the World Cup. The tournament is structured like an international version of the Club World Cup and an intercontinental indicative precursor to the World Cup in the coming year. There're 8 nations competing:
1. Host nation
2. World champion nation
3. Euro champion nation
4. South American champion nation
5. North American champion nation
6. African champion nation
7. Asian champion nation
8. Oceanian champion nation
Currently, it's held in South Africa and at the moment, the standings are:
Group A:
Spain - 6 points +6 goals
South Africa - 4 points +2 goals
Iraq - 1 point -1 goal
New Zealand - 0 point -7goals
Group B:
Italy - 3 points +2 goals
Brazil - 3 points + 1 goal
Egypt - 0 point -1 goal
United States - 0 point -2 goals
